The company was founded in 1963 by Preston Ewell as a part-time venture and operated from his home in the Norfolk Highlands area of Chesapeake. In 1971 Orren Hinson assumed leadership and operated the business full time expanding to all of Tidewater VA. Since 1963 Ewell Pest Control has been serving the residential and business community of Southeastern Virginia. Ewell Pest Control has pioneered pest termite and moisture control programs specifically used in this region with methods designed by its staff entomologist.
