Athens Pediatrics was established in 1973 by Dr. George Ackaouy. He was joined in 1974 by Dr. Iris Snider. Together they were the first pediatricians in McMinn County. Drs. Ackaouy and Snider dedicated their lives to the care of children in this region and advocated for quality medical coverage for pediatric patients in Tennessee. They practiced in a time when medicine was rapidly evolving and they were encouraged by the promise of new treatments for deadly childhood diseases. During their careers they celebrated the development of new medications and especially supported the invent of life saving vaccines. Their passion for pediatrics was evident to all those that they encountered. Dr. Ackaouy and Dr. Snider practiced at Athens Pediatrics for the duration of their lives. Though these founding physicians have passed on the providers at Athens Pediatrics are devoted to continuing their legacy. It is our mission to provide all children with quality healthcare based on current medical literature. We are focused on staying up-to-date with the newest recommendations and sharing that knowledge with our patients and their families.
